L&R (Lohmann & Rauscher) has announced its new campaign – Squeeze In! The campaign aims to empower people to manage their leg health, to support improved outcomes and release nursing time back to care. They have teamed up with actor and comedian Johnny Vegas who has shared his own experience of helping his father manage his venous leg ulcer. “Please don’t take the attitude that you can just ‘walk it off’ or try to forget about,” he said. “Visit your doctor; ask for help – addressing issues early will really help in giving you tips on how you can work preventative measures into your daily routine. It’s like running a car; if you run it into the ground it can often be too late to fix it.”

The Squeeze In campaign has been designed to motivate and equip patients and nurses to move into self-care solutions, releasing time back to nursing. Squeeze In aims to increase the number of patients looking after their legs and decrease the impact on their lives and the NHS.
The need for the NHS to embrace the self-care agenda for conditions such as venous leg ulceration is critical to free up vital resources and address the challenge that social isolation presents to delivery of ongoing care.
The Squeeze In campaign also emphasises the importance of self-care in boosting self-confidence and empowering those living with a leg condition to take control, by providing the motivation, knowledge and guidance to improve their leg health, so they are able to live life to the fullest.
