Like most of our hosiery products, support tights are designed to help improve the circulation of blood in the legs and feet. They can also help to relieve the symptoms of varicose veins, leg ulcers and spider veins, as well as helping to prevent the occurrence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
They work by providing extra support to get the blood circulating around the veins in the legs.
How can I choose the right compression tights for my condition?
All medical hosiery, including support tights, is given a compression level. These compression levels are rated from extra light to extra firm – they’re also measured by mmHg (millimetres of mercury).
The lowest level, extra light, offers a compression rating of 14 mmHg. Support tights classified as being extra light are ideal for those looking to soothe minor swelling or an uncomfortable, heavy feeling in their legs.
On the other end of the scale, extra firm support tights, offer a compression rate of in excess of 35 mmHg. These are suitable for more serious conditions like elephantitis.
