Azhar Rana, aged 33, of Leeds for the last 9 years his body has been ravaged by SLE, a form of Lupus which causes the body’s own immune system to damage and destroy all the vital organs. Lindsey Summerhill, aged 29, suffers with Primary Chronic Lymphoedema which means that her body can not rid itself of harmful toxins making her legs swell to twice the size. Walking is difficult and extremely painful.

So, at an age when girls are experimenting with fashion, for years Lindsey chose to cover her swollen legs, and dreaded beige stockings, with trousers.

Today, Lindsey shops at www.daylong.co.uk and has a variety of styles and colours of compression stockings, tights and socks to choose from.

Lindsey, set up Facebook site “Lymphoedema Is Part Of Who I Am” – which has attracted 800 members, and is now working alongside Daylong to spread the word to sufferers.

“Some of our members are as young as 16 and still at school and I feel so sorry for them, particularly now when the fashion is for short skirts. It’s good that they now have something fashionable to wear on their legs which actually helps relieve the symptoms.”
